RECENT EVENTS

Two exhibitions at the University of Buffalo Anderson Galleries
April 7 - August 7, 2016:

CHAPEL OF MEDITATION
The four large-scale paintings made by the artist for his Chapel of Meditation include the monumental Phenomena Himalayan.

On the Front Lines: Military Veterans of the Art Students League of New York
Jillian Russo, curator of the Phyllis Harriman Gallery at the Art Students League of New York organized the exhibition. The UB Anderson Gallery’s installation will vary from the original, with a few substitutions that will include additional works from the university’s significant collection in addition to works from other lenders. This will deepen an already comprehensive examination of the veterans’ artistic impact on the Arts Students League of New York and the development of postwar American art. The University at Buffalo’s presentation of On the Front Lines will emphasize the artistic experimentation that came from postwar veterans of the Arts Students League. Benefits from the GI Bill of Rights gave veterans tuition credits to further their education along with a monthly stipend for living expenses, which gave them the means to experiment with their art practice.
On view: Phenomena Of Air Striae 1959, oil on canvas.
